SI Mobile Blogger

The Smithsonian Institution’s Mobile Strategy and Initiatives Office is looking for one or more interns interested in gaining experience in technical writing and institutional knowledge management while learning about mobile product development and publishing. This intern is responsible for documenting the technical processes and use of the platforms involved in mobile product development, publishing, and content management at the Smithsonian, including iTunes, Google Play, the SI Mobile CMS and Roundware platforms. The intern will also support the development of documentation on mobile contracting and related requirements. The documentation is published on the Smithsonian’s internal and public-facing mobile wikis, where the intern will develop and maintain a clear information architecture that makes these materials easy to find and consult. The intern will also conduct internal outreach to ensure that staff are aware of the SI Mobile resource documents and how to use them.

Good, clear writing skills are essential for this position, but you do not have to have a technical background (for example, experience in journalism or writing traditional art historical descriptions can be an excellent preparation for technical writing work). Experience with wiki management and Sharepoint is preferred, but training can be provided.

To apply, please send a CV with links to online technical or relevant writing samples and information on your availability (hours/week, times of the day) to work with us to simobile@si.edu
