Representatives from CareFirst and Kaiser Permanente will be available to address questions and provide additional information to assist you in making your 2017 benefit elections.
What is Open Season?
Open Season is the once-a-year opportunity for eligible fellows to enroll, cancel, or make changes to their Smithsonian health plan elections for the upcoming year.
Who is eligible to participate?
Fellows with a tenure period of three consecutive months or longer are eligible to enroll in the Smithsonian Trust health insurance plan.
How do I enroll, cancel or make changes to my current coverage?
Review the Fellow Open Enrollment Letter for instructions and additional information.
*If you are not currently enrolled in a SI plan and wish to enroll during Open Season, you must provide the following information to the Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI) by 5:00pm on December 5, 2016:
- Full legal name
- Local address
- Social security number (SSN)
- Full date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy)
If you are not a U.S. citizen and do not have a SSN, OFI will provide you with a placeholder number.
