Insect Specimen Imaging

DESCRIPTION: Using Smithsonian collections, interns will create images of insect specimens.

QUALIFICATIONS: Background or interest in entomology; excellent hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity; attention to detail; good organizational skills; requires a minimum three-month tenure and weekly time commitment of at least 10 hours per week.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Interns will learn imaging techniques, including light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and associated post-production image enhancement techniques using Adobe Creative Suite.
