The National Museum of American History (NMAH) is a shining example of the Smithsonian Institution’s goal to promote the increase and diffusion of knowledge throughout the world.

This year, the NMAH is excited to offer the The Travel Research in Equity Collections (TREC) Awards, which grant four short-term travel awards for researchers to come to the museum and use the Archives Center’s 20,000 feet of archival materials. Award recipients receive a sum of $1,500 to support ten days of research in residence. TREC is specifically intended for research in NMAH collections related to the subjects of disability, LGBTQ, gender, sexuality, and race, ethnicity. Researchers of all levels and ranks, as well as independent scholars, writers, journalists, artists, or film-makers from any institution are encouraged to apply for the award. The application deadline is Saturday, 7/15/17 and awards will be announced on Tuesday, 8/15/17.
