Kevin McLean, former Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), maps the canopy of Barro Colorado Island.

Kevin McLean, former fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), successfully used LiDAR (light detection and radar) to map the tropical canopy of Barro Colorado Island in Panama. He used this technology to track the movements of three species of monkeys: Capuchin monkeys, Spider monkeys, and Howler monkeys.

His findings were recently written about in STRI Blog, which you can check out on here.
