Research with the Smithsonian allows interns and fellows access to hands on research with amazing collections and cutting edge data in locations all over the world.
Nicole Smith-Guzmán, a postdoctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), received her doctorate in anthropology at the University of Arkansas in 2015. Since then, she has taken her research to Panama where she is currently cleaning and studying human skeletons. She is also studying the link between skeletal body modification and socioeconomic divisions during that persons lifetime. Her research is shedding new light on the skeletons she studies and the types of lifestyles they lived.
