Posted on September 21, 2015 by in The OFI Blog

kristen2This past summer, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) intern Kristen Steinke studied the behavior of barnacles based on the changing of the tides in the Bay of Panama’s inter-tidal zone. She worked with staff scientist Rachael Collin to understand how the reproductive cycles of barnacles are influenced by competition, location, and temperature of their surroundings.

To read more about Kristen’s internship, check out a recent article in the August 2015 edition of STRI’s Tropicos magazine here.
