Tropically Speaking

The August 2015 edition of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) Trópicos Magazine recently featured an article about STRI’s thriving Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), a summer program in Integrative Tropical Biology.

This summer’s program took the concept of a language immersion program and applied it to Biology, teaching students how to incorporate the study of the natural world into every aspect of their day. This program pushed participants to think beyond the boundaries of traditional research disciplines.
