Intern from Lone Star State Reflects on Life-Changing DC Experience
Advancement Intern, Kelly Baxter left her home and family in Austin, Texas hesitantly at the beginning of the summer to come to Washington, DC. She received a professional development internship from the Smithsonian Institution Libraries (SIL) at the Advancement Office.
It didn’t take long for her to get acclimated to Washington and take on more tasks as she got comfortable with her internship. After six weeks of sightseeing and working behind the scenes, she is glad she came, but also happy to reunite with her family.
