Cooper-Hewitt Library Intern Measures Up
Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (CHNDM) Library intern Alana Jiwa graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design and is a current graduate student at Parsons in the History of Decorative Arts and Design program in the CHNDM. As part of the Smithsonian CCPF 2014 (Collections Care and Preservation Fund) grant that was awarded to the CHNDM Library, Alana is focusing on custom enclosures for the rare folio sized materials. She uses the new folio measurer made by Don Stankavage in the SIL Book Conservation Lab. Alana will finish her graduate career in the fall at BARD Graduate Center. Her focus will be on the cultural intersection of Muslims, Christians and Jews in the Medieval Era.
