Montagnard Teens Look Back on Their History
As part of the ongoing series “Young Historians, Living Histories” Smithsonian Affiliations (SA) intern Paula Lee recently posted an article on the SA “Affiliate” blog. Paula describes how the Greensboro Historical Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, has reached out to engage with young people from Greensboro’s Montagnard community.
The second largest community of the Montagnard people, an indigenous people of the Central Highlands of Vietnam, is located in Greensboro, NC. As part of a project with the Greensboro Historical Museum, 15 Montagnard teens volunteered to interview each other on camera to talk about their own personal experiences, whether they were born Cambodia, Vietnam, or the U.S..
