Gordon has been a member of the Office of Fellowships and Internships, first as a Program Assistant, currently as a Program Specialist, for twenty years. He is originally from Hampton, Virginia, but has lived and worked in the DC area for the last twenty-two years. He attended Hampton University where he received his undergraduate degree in History. He went on to pursue a graduate degree from Virginia State University in the same field. Prior to his work at OFI, he worked for Colonial Williamsburg during his undergraduate and graduate studies. He also worked for Nationwide Insurance as well as the Smithsonian museum stores. He joined the staff of OFI because of the opportunity the job provided to work with fellows and interns at the Smithsonian. In his free time, Gordon enjoys going to independent films, visiting museums and galleries, and indulging in sweet treats. He also specializes in his own form of dance known as the “reverse river dance”, which can be frequently observed on an ordinary day in the office.
